In 3D Studio, we first used a blank template of the base of the ship to add on aspects that were similar in the way they were made, but we could all make them a little bit different. I was able to add in different sections to make extrude from the ship or indent into the ship. By beveling the top parts, I added on windows all around and also a fin near the back. After I finished making the ship look how I wanted, we unwrapped the ship so that we could then add a customizeed texture.
Adding on to the ship:

This is just the basic start of the spaceship design. I add on much more later.
This is a view with the 3 arrows pointing at indents in the spaceship that are supposed to look like windows of some sort. Everything on the sides was added on after the basic design and then mirrored on the other side

To get to this part, I made sections of polygons and put them into the UV editor. This is where it was right before I took it over to Photoshop.
A lot of the parts of my ship were very strange looking by the time I put them in the UV editor. This part is the side of the ship and there were plenty of other parts that were very recognizable too, this one just stuck out to me.
This is a picture of the windows on the top of the ship after the texture was brought back over from Photoshop. I used 2 layers to make the glare on the windows - one for the black background and one that was a somewhat randomly shaped polygon that was then feathered with transparent to white gradient.
